Garmin Instinct - no reply option

Just bought Garmin instinct.

if someone sends me a text message, I can read the message, but I only get a few options, dismiss, delete, mark as read, and block app.

No option to reply.

I have set up message replies in the app, but I dont get any reply option on the watch.

yes phone is android (and a new phone)

anyone else have this? not having this function makes an expensive watch nearly useless to me.

Only SMS messages and phone calls can be replied from the watch. So if it was a message from Whatsup, Messanger or anothe similar application, then it won't work. Otherwise it should, and does for me.

If you did not, have a look also at the Support document Text Responses in the Garmin Connect App for Android whether you did not omit something during the setup.

messages are text messages.

not whatsapp or FB messeger etc

As I wrote, normally it works without problems, if set up in the way described in the documentation. The only issues I am aware of, is the use of spam protection like TrueCaller and similar, that hides the original phone number, and hence the GC app/watch then cannot answer, not having the number. Another possibility might be a missing permission for sending SMS.

Any solution to this yet??

I'm using a new oppo phone with Android for a Garmin Instinct watch.

Can get reply option through WhatsApp only but not through normal messaging service (not messenger)

Have played with both phone and watch settings and all permission are allowed

In case you still looking, I had same issue. Answer was to install Google messages as default SMS service.
