Altimeter issue after updating to 7.0

Hello everyone

I've been a very happy Instinct fan so far but after the last update I find the altimeter not to be working properly.

I've been triying to calibrate both the altimeter and the barometer following some of the advices I've found in this forum but unfortunately I've not solved the problem: the altimeter seems to be constantly adjusting itself to the wrong data. Even when I spend some time at a "known" altitude (I live at 40 m asl) the altimeter keeps fluctuating between negative and positive datas rather than staying at the same altitude showing a flat line with no changes. No matter how often I manual calibrate it or turn the auto-calibration on or off, it keeps fluctuating. It is so bad to the point it affects the overall number of daily climbed floors: when at work, for example, the watch sometimes counts floors even though there is not a slight change in altitude.

Not to mention the problems I've had when recording activities. It pretty much shows the wrong data all the times.

Any advice? Is anyone having the same issue?

Thank you in advance!

Nick

  • Hello,

I encountered the same problems with the latest beta, 7.51: I live on the 5th floor, 84m altitude, and the altitude is constantly changing, no matter how many calibrations I make. Sometimes during a cardio exercise the recorded altitude varies a lot, from -130m to + 130m, with measured floors included. Being in the house where the gps and the dem are not accessible and connected to the phone on bluetooth, it is possible to understand the altitude variation. On Saturday I did a bike tour, 40km on a variable route, asphalt, forest, and the recorded data were as they should be, including altitude. But they still have to work on the calibration, not to have so many fluctuations during a day. Or maybe we don't use the right settings.
