Instinct - powermeter readings

Hi,

I'm aware that Instinct is outdoor watch that main target is hiking, running or any outdoor activity. I'm also aware that cycling devices are EDGE series. But if Instinct supports ANT+ & BT is there a possibility to allow it to read also power values from cycling powermeters? That would be a great additional feature in this device.

Nobody chimes in, so just not to let you without any answer - I have no experience with powemeters, but Garmin sells the Vector 2 and 3 powermeters, and none of them has Instinct on Compatibility list. So if even Garmin's own powemeters cannot be used with Instinct, then I'd consider very unlikely it could be possible with products of other manufacturers.

Hardware should be compatible, so software (resp. firmware) limitation. Additionally, there may be also some licensing issues involved, if Garmin does not use own algorithms for processing the power data (similarly as it is for example with most of the health data processing that is licensed from Firstbeat)

Thanks trux for confirming my thoughts - with firmware limits not hardware. Would be cool to log power on Instinct. On the other hand that's a good point with licensing issues. Although from what i know there is no license needed to read and calculate power. Some other power based factors has their names trademarked but calculations are common knowledge.

sad life. this watch I bought with so many expectations but its not worth even for basic activities monitoring. I sync my watch to strava and it gives average power(without subscription). not sure what's with Garmin. trux I can be bit sure that calculating power is not a limitation.
