Instinct - 7.00 Public Release Candidate

Hello Instinct users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures! This is our final public release candidate.

7.00 Change Log Notes:

Added support for inReach display verification, when using authentication.
Improved pairing experience with Garmin Dual ANT+/BLE Sensors.
Fixed Instinct Tactical default position format.
Fixed issue with Explore app where synced activities would be duplicated.
Fixed issue where alarms would not go off at the correct time after daylight savings time change.
Fixed potential issue where altimeter would reset to 0.
Fixed issue where the watch face steps chart would draw off the screen.
Fixed potential issue where low battery alerts would not display.

Can someone expand on what that means? I have an inreach but I have never heard any mention of anything called "display verification" or "authentication" for it

For the next update I would REALLY want second hand to be added to the analouge watch face. I have made a post about that.

The new version of the Instinct firmware 7.00 still contains a bug in
UTF-8 string handling in case of the .fit files imported from Garmin
Connect web.

Final public release candidate, meaning? No more fw version will exist going past 7.0 ?

It means that this version is the last in the latest string of Beta releases since the last public release - it will be public release 7.00 unless critical bugs are found. Of course, after public release of 7.00, we will go back to enjoying 7.xx Beta releases as new software is developed in the future.

I have just discovered a bug, which is also in 6.91: I am not able to add any Custom Alert in activity:

Settings-Activities&Apps-Bike-Bike Settings-Alerts-Add New-Custom-Drink-Time-...Simply ignored .

Downgrade to 6.60 - it works again. Upgrade to 6.91 - does not work again.

I have a feeling that Garmin is going to halt the development on this product, they are about to introduce some new watch.

Fenix 5 is three generations old now, and they just posted a new firmware update for it last month.

It's true that their priorities are likely to shift towards the newer product when it comes out, but they won't completely halt firmware developments on this one for several years afterwards.

In fact, they're not even likely to halt manufacturing on Instinct until a year or two after Instinct 2 comes out. Fenix 6 came out 8 months ago and they're still selling lots of new Fenix 5 Plus watches.
