Garmin Heart Rate Monitor not connecting

I recently purchased the HRM-Dual (Heart rate monitor chest strap) and it seems to connect fine to my Garmin Instinct -Tactical but won’t connect through the Garmin Connect App. It provides the following error message whenever I try to connect it with the app. Whenever I choose “add device” it just closes the dialogue box and nothing happens. Any ideas on how to resolve?  

  • No response for 5 days, so moving this to the instinct forum. Since the Dual uses both ANT+ and Bluetooth, I don't think you need to have it visible from Garmin Connect Mobile.

    The HRM-Dual should not be connected through the Garmin Connect Mobile App.  As long as it is successfully paired with your watch (i.e. Instinct Tactical), all Activity data will be recorded and sent to Garmin Connect.  Further, if there are any updates to the HRM-Dual software, they will be downloaded through Garmin Connect to the watch and then to the HRM-Dual the next time it is connected to the watch.

    IOW, what you are seeing is normal and has no impact on the use of the HRM-Dual.
