Garmin Instinct Frozen

Hey,

I bought my Instinct in October. Had to get a hard reset done on it a month after my purchase, after the battery died and could not turn it on.

About a month ago, it died again. Tried to turn it on but could not after charging. Got it replaced.

Today it died again during running. In the evening I put it on the charger. Not responding. All I see is the Garmin sign but cannot tell whether it is charging or not. It won't respond. Pressing Ctrl button does not help.

I am really devastated. It is the third time this has happened to me, twice before my weekend long trail runs, where I am given new maps to follow each time. I cannot train like this properly always needing to fret whether it is going to turn after the battery dies. This is not normal.

Any tips? Other than get it replaced for the third time?

  • Indeed strange, since there are not so many complaints about Instinct here, so having it happen three times to you sounds really extremely unlikely. Perhaps it somehow relates to the way you use it. Any extreme conditions like temperature or depth? How do you charge it? Couldn't the computer or the charger supply the voltage out of the standard range? Did you try measuring it? What activities do you use it for, mostly, and how frequently? How often do you charge the watch?

Problems with the USB voltage killing the watch, sound to me like the most likely cause, because I cannot imagine you could get three faulty devices consequently - the probability of such event is really close to zero.

Or perhaps a problem with the cable - did you get a new USB cable with each replacement too, or do you still use the same orignal one?
