I am curious if the TEMPE can be connected to an Instinct and GPSMAP 64st at the same time.
Does anyone know?
Thanks!
Best regards,
Fred

Yes. I have both a 64st and an Instinct. I can connect to a Tempe with both at the same time. It's the beauty of ANT+ vs. typical Bluetooth. Multiple devices can connect to same sensor.
I also often…
Same Tempe connected to Instinct and 64st. Temperature reading on the st is at the lower left of its screen.
Would be nice if you explained what is TEMPE and what is GPSMAP 64st, or post links to their websites, not to force everyone to google it.
You are quite right!
TEMPE is an ANT device that a user might clip on a shoe or backpack for monitoring temperature.

GPSMAP 64st is a GPS.

The Instinct (watch) has to ability to connect to the TEMPE and display temperature of the watch face rather than use the internal sensor. The TEMPE should be more accurate since it is not in the Instinct against the skin.
The GPSMAP 64st (GPS with sensors and topographic maps) has to ability to connect to the TEMPE and display temperature.
I have the Instinct and the GPSMAPst. The manuals do not discuss using the TEMPE with more than one device at a time.
Thanks!
Fred
OK, thanks, I see now. As for Tempe, I see it in the menu of my Instinct, so it looks like you can connect it directly. You can find it in the Menu » Settings » Sensors & Accessories » Add New » Tempe
As for GPSMAP 64st, it looks like it already works for you, so you probably do not need any assistance with it, or do you?
The original question is whether both the Instinct and GPS can use the sensor at the same time (simultaneously). Both can connect or so the manuals say.
If the Tempe only transmits data, then both should be able to hear it. But if it also receives data, then it may operate more like a Bluetooth device whereas only one device can connect at a time.
As for connecting with my Instinct, that is an option I have not found yet. The Instinct is new so I am still learning it. I need to make a cheat sheet to use for a while I guess.

Sorry, I have no idea, but if you own all those devices, simply try it, and let us know, so that it stays here on the forum for the reference.

I also often run with my son who owns a Forerunner 245. I wear a Tempe on my shoe and both of us can record the temperature from the one Tempe.
Enjoy
Thanks D_Estes! that is exactly what I was hoping! I have never had an ANT+ device before.

Nice, I wondered about that for quite some time. Although I rarely use my Oregon 550 (handheld GPS) anymore it is good to know that the Instinct and the Oregon won't fight about the Tempe!
Same Tempe connected to Instinct and 64st. Temperature reading on the st is at the lower left of its screen.
Sweet! Thanks for the picture!
My Instinct and 64st were Christmas gifts this year. The Instinct and all its functionality is daunting.
I went for a hike this last weekend and thought I was recording a track. Apparently I forgot a step. Can I really forget if I really haven't learned it?
I always hike/paddle with my GPS (plus paper maps) so I recorded the trip at least. The 64st replaced my 62s. I haven't decided if the 64 is much better than the 62. It does have Bluetooth so I have more to examine.
I am disappointed the 64st does not function with Explore.
Thanks D_Estes!

Fred
