Today I racked up 61 floors... on a route with approximately five floors.

Sometimes I've seen wacky floor counts out by as much as ten floors (as compared to previous measurement of the routes, and my phone's own readings), but today my Instinct decided I'd walked 61 floors on a route that usually reads around five floors. I thought between GPS+Galileo, 3D movement, and the altimeter, surely there should never be such a massive error in reading floors? I guess not... :-(

  • You can try and spin this all you like, but it's insanity having a barometer port right against skin. My only mistake was not taking the obvious flaw seriously enough as soon as I saw it three months ago.

It may be insanity, but I still do not understand what you want us (the forum users) or Garmin, to do with it. You know the  problem, you know that we know it, and you also know that Garmin knows about it and aknowledged it. You know the workarounds, and you do not want to use them, you do not want to try the improved firmware version, and you do not want to use a better model. So what are you asking us to do for you to make you happy?

  • I always update my device firmware to stable releases, thank you very much.

  • No problem, do as you want. But you did not answer what you are asking us. You know exactly the state of the case, and you are sure it won't change, but still do not stop posting about it in multiple threads, as if you expected we do offer you some solution, other than we already did. So I'd like to know what solution you are hoping for.

I'm not trying to spin anything. I find it comical that you suggested to another forum user that they should look at the forums or use Google.  You're implying that issue is quite obvious and easily found.  Why didn't you take your own advice since the watch was released for more than a year before you bought it. Are you suggesting this 'flaw' wasn't was brought to light by anyone until after you bought yours?

My only mistake was not taking the obvious flaw seriously enough

No. You made the mistake of not doing any research or reading reviews on a product before you purchased it. Now we have to hear about your bad decision on the forum because it's Garmin's fault and not your own.
