Dog Track Wrong Direction

I bought the Instinct on black friday to pair with my older Alpha 100. The Alpha, tt10 collar and Instinct are all up to date. My problem is suddenly after just a few uses the alpha and instinct are reporting the dog in the wrong direction. Started out as 180 off now it varies. And now they do not match which direction the dog is . I have re-calibrated both the watch and the Alpha. I have tried all the GPS settings on the watch with none performing better. Also the compass on the instinct is frequently wrong. Even if not connected to the Alpha. Having the GPS on, on my phone seems to make the problem slightly better. However, I can't trust these devices which is sad given that I have thousands of dollars invested into this technology. I have contacted Garmin support and they just wanted me to send my handheld in for $100 to fix it. I really feel this is a software issue. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to resolves this?
