Garmin Instinct INCIDENT DETECTION

Does anyone thinks that Garmin Instinct should have INCIDENT DETECTION? It's outdoor watch for hikers, mtb bikers, actually anyone who is adventure-adrenaline junkie.

This watch is for people who really need this function, Garmin puts this function on forerunner watch series and outdoor adventure watch doesent have it?!? It just doesent have any sense....

  • If I am not mistaken, the Instinct predates the appearance of the function in the Garmin line. Therefore, maybe we'll get lucky and get the version in a future update (I would not hold my breath) or, at least, on the next Instinct version

  • Something you guys should know about Garmin watches. They come with a set of features from the day you buy it. They won't add new features. NEVER. You want upgrades with new features you should try with another brand.

I didn't think that Garmin would upgrade watches with new features, it just isn't logical. You have cheap runner watch witch has this feature but pure adventure watch doesn't. I'm just discussing this unlogical move from Garmin.

  • Not quite. Just notice the DEM and body power widget coming up in the next Instinct upgrade and already available as beta.

There is no move. As  explained, the Incident Detection is a relatively new feature, and simply was not available yet, when they developped Instinct. The ID feature is now available in most new models. It is quite likely, and logical, that the next Instinct model will have that feature too.

It would be nice to have this feature on this model. I'm very satisfied with this watch, and I have it from Christmas so I wouldn't changing my watch soon.

  • Wow, didnt know this. First time going to beta. I'll check this out.

  • Not exactly true.  When I got my Instinct there was never a mention of the Body Battery.  Now it is available on the Beta firmware and will eventually end up as a new feature for the Instinct.

  • I am a happy Instinct owner and would love VO2 & INCIDENT DETECTION :)

I have the new instinct solar and I have a 2019 edge. The edge has the incident detection (out of the box) and my Solar doesn't. I wonder if they couldn't get the algorithm to work on something that moves around so much as a watch. The incident detection is very sensitive even on the bar of my road and my MTB bikes, so on a watch would just have too may variables.
