As of yesterday I had no problems. Now today it’s showing -81 feet which is way off. I’ve tried all the past suggestions and still the same. Anyone else having this problem?

Did you calibrate the altimeter and barometer to the correct readings prior to today's activity? Is your barometer mode set to "auto" which will guess (not always correctly) what caused the pressure change and will make the altitude reading drift? Did you go from indoors immediately to outdoors before your activity today? Were there any wind gust during your activity? What suggestions did you try? We'll need a lot more information before anyone can try and assist.
Thanks for the reply.
I was out at my hunting land trying to use the altimeter to check elevation for hunting purposes. I've owned the watch for a week now and this has seemed to happen a bunch. Yes i calibrated the altimeter again then restarted the watch and now its back correct. Calibrating it was a pain as it kept saying the "being outside and away from tress will help your gps signal" as i was standing in a field with good cell phone service. The watch seems to be working correctly one moment and then complete wrong the next. Not only the altimeter but and the weather widget can be 10 to 15 degrees off from my area. Also it said 0% chance of rain as it was raining.
Ive tried to make sure sweat didn't get under the watch. Even though i knew this wasn't the problem.
I've tried the so called "spa treatment" by cleaning the watch bottom.
I've tried restarting the watch
watch is fully updated to the latest firmware
So as of know its working again. But the inconsistency is annoying. should re calibrating both gps and altimeter a couple of ties a day be normal? and sometimes that don't even work.
Yes i have already read all of these before posting. There is no real solution to any of these and there have been updates since these were started. Thanks
I don't know if this applies to you or not, but there a three things people fail to do prior to an activity which can result in incorrect readings. I cannot overemphasize the importance of these three steps. 1. Make sure you are in the the environment for a little while prior to starting your activity. IE, outdoors in the same temperature. Once you spent time in the environment you're going to conduct your activity, 2. Calibrate your watch to the correct elevation. Does the Instinct calibrate using DEM? GPS can be off by + or - 400 feet. There are several websites that will give you geographical elevation surveys for your location if you're not sure. 3. Calibrate your barometer to the correct pressure of your location. Again, there are websites you can use if you're not sure. If you do these 3 things; barring a defective barometer or blocked sensor port, your readings should be correct.
It's also possible you have an obstructed barometer port. Sweat, debris or mineral deposits can cause this. A bowl of luke warm water with a drop of dish soap (I use Dawn because it breaks down grease also) can help. Place the watch in the bowl and slosh it around gently. Rinse well and let it air dry.
Thanks for your time. You have been very helpful.
I did the first 2 today while I was there. I did a couple hours of walking around and would stop every once in a while to try something else to get it to work. I guess I was just wanting my $300 smart watch to do all of this for me automatically as it advertised the features as part of the watch. I have maps of elevation but was hoping to use the watch as more precise reading by location. Maybe I just need to invest in a Handheld GPS.
once again Thanks.

Unfortunately, sometime yes. We constantly go in and outdoors. We travel to different locations with elevation change. Weather is constantly changing. Our watches do the best they can to keep up, but they will drift.
once again Thanks.
I hope I may have helped. Good luck on your hunt. I have a nice 8 point I've been keeping my eye on for the last couple of weeks where I hunt.
Awesome. Will try this. Thanks
