How does it work about the Type option in Navigation settings?
As you know, there are "Beaming" and "Course" in the Type.
I can't understand the difference very much.

As far as I can tell (and the terminology seems to be misleading), it goes like this. When in "Bearing" mode, the arrow in the circle display will tell you if you must go more or less to the right or to the left relative to the direction you are moving. When pointing straight up, it means you are moving in the intended direction and no correction is required; when pointing at an angle to the right it means that you have to correct your direction of movement by that much to the right, and mutatis mutandis to the left. When in "Course" mode, the same arrow will always point toward the desired destination. As I recall (my Instinct is not with me), this is what I concluded after some experiments. Hope it helps.
PMO, Thank you for your precious information!
I expected the specification which you wrote, but my Instinct's arrow always indicates the direction to nearby route regardless of option settings.
I think that this is bug of Instinct.
Bearing: When what you care about is to get to your destination roughly along the path. It will point you in the direction of the next waypoint even if you stray from the path. It is usually the better option, it leads you more smoothly.
Course: When you want to get to your destination exactly along your path. If you stray away from your path it will not point you to the next waypoint but back to your path instead. An example would be to approach a port with a boat if you navigate shallow waters, where the path is just few meters wide and you simply must follow it exactly or you will crash your boat.
Then there is reality… From my experience (and I tested it extensively) this options barely makes any difference not even sure if any at all.
Dear Kamil,
Thank you for your information. I could understand the difference in the option. About your explanation, I prefer to use "Bearing" to get to my destination.
