Data screens during coaching runs

Does anyone know of a guide (or can describe here) what screens display during runs with Garmin Coach?

I'm doing a 10k plan and, maybe like many others, can't read the screen while running and without my reading glasses. There are also maybe 3 kinds of beep.

I have not customised the screens.

  • Step in this case is not the movement of your foot, but a part the workout. For example 1st step = run 10 min slow, 2nd step = run 5 min fast, etc

Step dist is the distance made during the resective step. Step pc on the first screen is the pace during that step

And the numbers 1/2 mean step one of two

  • Thanks Trux! So weird that this stuff is not in the manual.

Now if there was some way of increasing the font size or modifying the workout screens I'd be as happy as :)

  • I have the same problem with my sight and the font size, especially in low light conditions, but there would not be place enough for all the necessary info, with bigger font on this watch. Sometimes I carry a credit card size fresnel lens with me. It helps

  • Great thread DJG.    Where your example says 5:36, your current pace I believe, the font is very adequate and clear.  On my display the font is about the same as the "eye" 15:02 number, but black on white.  If I could only read that number, I'd have no issue.   My bar graph is also different, and I think it would be in the center if you were at your target pace, but I find this feature difficult to figure out because I'd have to stare at my wrist while i'm running.

  • You have a great question.   Many of the people responding are trying to solve specific problems. (thanks) but you asked about the big picture.  I sign up for a Garmin Coach running plan.   I need reading glasses to see the watch text, and I don't wear them when I run.

Can edit data fields for a Garmin Coach workout?   I would like to simplify the screens.   If I'm a time workout, I want the time, if a speed workout show the speed, interval etc.

Yesterday I was doing an "easy run" on my plan and it had about four lines of text right in the middle of the workout.  I simply can't read it, especially right in the middle of a workout.

Can I read in advance what is going to happen? Can I edit the data screens to simplify them and make them one field per screen?  where is the documented?

  • STEP PC. -What does this mean (during workout)

Step Pace - the average pace for the current workout step

In cool down phase, what's STEP DIST and 1/2

Step Distance - the distance travelled since the beginning of the current workout step. It has nothing to do with your walking steps. It is a "workout step", for example a lap, partial exercise, etc.
