Just wondering if we'll see an updated / higher-tier Instinct at any point? From what I can see (prices increasing over time & new colour variations) they seem to be selling particularly well. Personally I don't want a smart watch with a large, colour screen; when I want to look at data I'll use my phone/computer, the watch is there to log the data and get information to me in a basic manner, which the Instinct does. I love that the watch blends in and just has the appearance of a simple g-shock to most people, whilst in the meantime having all the hardware inside (Plus the upsides of the bulletproof build and huge battery life).
The Instinct is missing a plethora of features though, some of which were absent at launch and others which have been developed since release:
- New Sony chipset
- Updated heart rate monitor
- Pulse ox
- Training load
- Firstbeat metrics
- Incident detection
- Garmin pay
- Spotify / music onboard
- Probably some new features that'll be found on the Fenix 6...
- Others that I've probably forgotten
I know there's some features which aren't feasible with the monochrome screen (e.g. topographic maps), which I guess could be used to differentiate it from the top-end watches. Given all this tech is already developed and in other watches, I doubt it'd be too difficult to pack it into a large chassis like the Instinct already has.
Wondering if anyone else would be interested in something like this or people find the current-gen more than sufficient?
