Strange GPS bug during activity

Hello

Lately, my Instinct developed strange GPS bug - during activity (running in my case) it just stops to record a visible GPS track, but otherwise records distance, pace, time, heart rate and elevation gain/loss almost perfectly

Sometimes it happens at the beginning or middle of a run and after some time the track starts to record from a random point, sometimes my watch just doesn't record track of the end of my run

All this can be observed in Garmin Connect and Strava, where I synchronize my runs

I also contacted support. Hope we will get a fix. Like this watch very much and for running this is just a minor annoyance but for an outdoor watch wich can be just for navigation this could be a big problem.

And we have anothere one. Track stops after 7km. connect.garmin.com/.../3914396750

I’m gonna try a factory reset and see if that helps.

Just happened to me too, first time. Track stopped after about 4 miles, but all other data is fine.

I had a reply from Garmin Support. They told me the usual thing, but also told me that if it happens again we can escalate this further. Did you also get a reply?

Software version is a lot older than the 5.10 , why? Would upgradign solve your issues?

Becauset that was the stable version at the time.

Same problem here, Instinct started to record GPS after the first 2 Km, but activity had no error (distance, pace, time...).

Write to garmin support. Waiting for their answer.

That sounds as if your ephemeris data file (EPO) expired. Connect the watch with USB cable to the computer, and check for updates with Garmin Express. You need doing it regularly - GPS cannot work reliably and quickly without fresh ephemeris data, so it may take up to several tens of minutes, before GPS starts recording. Read more about it here:

Thanks, that fixed the problem. I made 2 runs without any problems.
