So, I recently took delivery of the Garmin Instinct and it truly is a very nice device. Now, from the get-go, I have had issues with the optical heart rate not recording data consistently-there would be several gaps in the day of no HR data. Most nights there would be no HR data at all and thus not able to give "advanced sleep data". So, yesterday, I cut a clear piece of plastic between the watch's sensor/lights and my skin and interestingly, I'm getting more data being recorded.
Could someone please explain this to me as I find it rather odd. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? I have previously used the Vivoactive HR and had absolutely no issues with it-I thought it was the same sensor used in both devices.
Might it be something that can be solved by a firmware update(I have the APAC version that is still on 2.9)? Having this piece of plastic between the watch and my skin is VEERY noticeable and fairly irritating to the skin.
