Instinct Shutting Off

Hi,

I'm not sure what is wrong, but my Instinct keeps shutting off randomly. My software version is 2.90 (c3964ca). Any help appreciated, don't want to master reset.

  • Please reach out to the Garmin’s Support Teams so that we can work with you directly and find out what is causing your issue with your Instinct.
  • I’d advise to upgrade your software to version 3.10 and see if the problem still exists. If GE doesn’t show an update, download Garmin Webupdater to download the update that way.
  • Yeah my Garmin Instinct Solar is doing the exact same thing too, like an alarm or abnormal heart rate alert or something else goes off & the Garmin Instinct Solar Smart watch just turns itself off of which this is Very Annoying indeed even know it has the latest software/firmware version update but it still does keep turning itself off, Grrrrr so Very Annoying indeed so Garmin Send out an update to Fix the issue ASAP guys..

  • If your Instinct watch is shutting off, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region. Your watch will need to be exchanged.

  • Mine has started doing it now will not turn on with ctrl button plug in to charger for a couple of seconds and it turns back on battery is around 19 days left usually

  • My instinct solar also has the same problem recently. It start a few weeks ago when I want to record exercise (running) when I pressed start it just shut off. Its battery level were still high, more than 50%. And during last 1-2 days, it now shut off randomly every few hours. MY software version is 17.01 (9384c5d).

  • I am sorry there is a serious issue. You will need to reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region to discuss exchanging your Instinct watch.

  • Chris. Do you have any idea what has created this issue? This is also occurring with my instinct solar. My symptoms started around the same time as many people in the forums. My watch is out of warranty, but the solution i was given was to buy a refurbished watch. Has the FW been corrupted by a pushed update?

  • I am sorry you are experiencing the issue with your watch. I do not know what the perfect storm is that can cause the behavioral issue.

It has been very rare to start taking place when taking into account how many are in use worldwide the last 3 years 10 months compared to how many customers have reached out to Outdoor Product Support with the issue.

When any outdoor watch develops a serious issue, what I have seen 99.99% of the time is no pattern or direct cause that led to the issue.

  • Chris,

Citing sales to complaints for this specific issue (instability introduced around 17.00) over the past 3 years 10 months is a poor way to justify that the issue doesn’t exist.

Garmin pushes a not rolled out pseudo vetted SW/FW build update to my 18 month old $400 watch and I’m told the watch is broken without performing any real diagnostic checks as to the life of the hardware.

Running a factory reset doesn’t actually revert the Software version, GPS, BLE, or SNS. Yet garmin is expecting the high level settings not the FW/SW/HW to cause some instability interaction.

Garmins online support tells me I am unable to revert my software, yet there are forum posts from garmin  reps telling me how to do it.

Can you please send me the last previously released build that reverts past SNS 18.00?

    Thanks,

    Ryan
