Ascend recording errors

Hi, I have the watch since a few days. At third hike it made that errors like shown, completely falsing the result. It was a forest area w/o any infrastructure like electric lines or radio masts, clear sky, and the biggest errors happened at about the top of a hill, in not very tight forest with big trees. At the first big negative peak, I didn't touched the watch, at the big positive peak, I have shortly switched to compass. What could be the reason, is it normal? At 2 first walks (also in forests) it was all OK, no such errors. (vertical meters)
  • I also get issues with elevation recording on the Instinct. Its not ideal but as I am happy with the watch apart from this so I have not put a call into Garmin to be told to go through the default responses (reset etc). Every activity I upload to Garmin Connect using the instinct I use the elevation correction feature and results in the data recorded and the corrected figure always being a lot different (didn't get this with a previous device). Whilst the device seems to show the correct altitude most of the time the spikes and smoothing seem to be an issue - I hope this is a firmware issue and will be fixed.

Sorry this doesn't help but I guess there will be others that post saying they have no issues.

Thank you tafuk2, I activated the correction and now it's looking fine. Just wondering why the watch can't filter it from itselfs.
