I’m having weather issues too. Mine hasn’t update in over a month. I have an iPhone X. Any fixes yet?

  • Mine updates only a few times per day, which means that it can be off by quite a lot and is pretty useless. I'm on Android with location services enabled and battery optimization disabled for Connect so that it is always running in the background. Hopefully this issue is addressed or at the very least there is a workaround to manually sync, which I have not been able to figure out yet.

  • Yawn... unfortunately this has come up again and again for years and Garmin continues to pretend it is linked to individual phone settings. So many of us have rebooted the watch, the phone, reinstalled everything, checked permissions... just to be back at the same situation. GARMIN: YOUR WEATHER WIDGET UPDATES UNRELIABLY WHEN PAIRED WITH iOS.... there’s no talking around it. It’s ok if that’s not a priority for Garmin but just say so.

  • Same problem here (i8 ios 12.3).

Seems iphone people are second class low priority users for Garmin.

I have a 44mm Watch too (LTE version) and its vastly more useful than the Instinct, obviously.

I bought the Instinct as a cheaper more rugged watersports-worthy option to the Watch while boating/PWC, floating/canoeing, etc...  but I kinda wish I’d have given more attention to other options before buying, or just stuck with my Luminox’s, Tracer’s or Tag’s...

For as long as I’ve been using Garmin products (~25 years) their programming has always been disjointed, convoluted, inop, or just plain clumbsy.. then there is the map update process’.. expensive, slow, absurd.. as if we’re still in 1996.

Could it be this is the best it gets because of Apple limiting it's ios connectivity to non ios devices? Everyone wants to blame the watch (Garmin) but doesn't look at the phone (Apple) for help? Have you checked on a forum for your iphone for help with this problem? Maybe it's not all Garmin's fault? It takes two!!

  • I have an iPhone, doesn’t update for me either, constantly waiting for data, tried everything I can think of.

This is the case it seems! I just don't understand why Garmin ignores this issue!

Think.... could it be it's Apple?? Not Garmin?

I don't think so there is data going back and forth between the watch and the iPhone. So my point is the connection is established between both devices. Garmin app pulls the weather information and embedded the information in the communication. I am confident it's Garmin issue not iPhone's.

  • Agreed, everything else works fine, but not weather. Unpairing and repairing fixes it temporarily, but then it just happens again. Completely useless
