Instinct Hangs on Saving screen

Hi there,

My instinct hangs on the Saving screen , while trying to save, post a pool workout, it does break out after i connect it to garmin express, but i lose the pool swim count.

Is there a patch that Garmin is working on please? Or is this something i should send to the repair for?

Nickfoo I am not able to reproduce this here nor is there any reports of this. Can you please reset your device (Settings -> System -> Reset) and see if the issue continues? If that doesn't work, reach out to us at Garmin through our Product Support channels (phone, email, or chat) so that we can work with you directly.

Thanks, will try again in the morning for a swim and see if the reset helps

Hi There, i did the reset, my unit was fine since, however today it went thru the same issue again, can you let me understand next steps? I could do another reset, but surely i should not be looking at this as a permanent solution?

What Software (Firmware) do you use? if stable 2.60 the try to wait till you get 2.80 stable soon (it's in propagation stage) or update to 2.78 beta and test your swim once again.

The same thing happened to me today while trying to save a "Hike" activity (Walk, Run activities have been working OK). The Distance was showing "0" after an hour's hike. Resetting the watch fixed the problem, for now. Running firmware 2.60.

It happened to me on indoor cycling twice. I lost all the data.

The hanging problem happened again (after resetting my watch) with the only difference being that I was trying to discard a hiking activity since the distance showed "0" after 15 minutes into a hike and I knew it was going to hang if I try to save it. A temporary fix is to connect the watch to a computer. Still running v2.60.

connect your watch to garmin express (PC) and update it to 2.80 (there were posts that it won't be found and install via bluetooth only after connecting to PC) because it's the latest firmware and you wouldn't get support from garmin before upgrading to it. then see if you have the same issue with the latest firmware.

I got the same problem again. My Garmin is APAC. So the 2.8 is still not available. T T

Its probably the HRM tri that makes Instinct freezed on saving screen. I tried not using the HRM tri and got no error at all. Yesterday I ran on tredmill and used hrm tri and it freezed on saving screen again. Is there anyone using HRM tri and get the same problem?
