So the instinct is great but here's a question for the techy types. The watch can have a positive display (black font white background) and a negative display (white font on black background). Now when the watch is off the background is white which suggests to me that the positive display is more efficient as the only pixels being activated are the black ones. Correct me if I'm wrong. If this is true would it be significant because I much prefer the negative display. TIA.
As it has a MIP (Memory In Pixel) display, I believe any power consumption difference would be negligible (compared to the various other processes running)

That is NOT in the Owner's Manual for the Instinct. Please link your source for that info.
Sorry, I thought that referring to the manual was enough, I did not think it was so hard to find the right section... Just see in the "Maximizing the Battery life" section. I put the link below to save you some time.
If you still can't find it, try to look at the 7th bullet. My bad if I generalized the advice for heart rate display even if it is not explicitly mentioned.
