Barometer trend arrow

This is my first Garmin watch and so far I am happy with the watch. The only thing that is bugging me is the barometer trend arrow does not move. It is always horizontal. Has anyone noticed this? I have seen similar posts on the Fenix forum going back years.

And way is there no information in the manual explaining the built-in widgets like this from Suunto.

Using weather trend indicator

The weather trend indicator is located on the upper side of the display. It is displayed in the time and alti & baro modes, providing you with quick reference to check upcoming weather conditions. The weather trend indicator is comprised of two lines forming an arrow. Each line represents a 3-hour period. The right line represents the last 3 hours. The left line represents the 3 hours prior to the last 3 hours. So the line can indicate 9 different patterns in the barometric trend.

Situation 3-6 hours ago Situation last 3 hours
Dropped heavy (>2 hPa/3hours) Dropping heavily (>2 hPa/3hours)
Remained stable Rising heavily (>2 hPa/3hours)
Rose heavy (>2 hPa/3hours) Dropping heavily (>2 hPa/3hours)

TIP:
If the weather trend indicator shows that the air pressure is constantly rising, there is a higher possibility of sunny weather upcoming. Again, if the air pressure is constantly dropping, there is a higher possibility of rainy weather.

  • Same here, many significant up and down baro pressure changes in the graph, but the arrow trend remains flat. Anybody else ?
  • I had the same feeling but after few days I noticed it can actually go up or down if pressure changes are "really" significant. But I agree it should be more sensitive.

And considering the arrow shows the pressure evolution over 2 periods, I also observed this strange behavior: between "flat"-"rise" (after an effective rise) and "rise"-"flat" few hours later, I had a "flat"-"flat" arrow during a long time...
  • Definitely stubbornly flat even when a storm alert managed to trigger. But then I just check the barometer graph when I want to know about the trend and I suspect it is more accurate.
I guess it is not very sensitive and needs a seriour depression to change.
  • Same here: the arrow stays 'stubborny' flat even when the baro graph makes beautiful 'parabolics'...
Never been able to see that arrow change from flat-flat since I got my Instinct...

(I hate this "I'm not a robot" check...........)
  • Luckily I keep the graph permanently on the main watch face so I don't really need the arrow trend.
But again even with storm warning triggered and some serious up and down baro press variation the arrow remains flat...maybe a fix for the arrow senditivity st next FW update ?
  • It’s fixed in 2.77 beta;) Thanks, Garmin!
  • The barometer trend arrow again not working properly in 2.80 fw. Today I have got a storm alert but my trend arrow is showing flat. This behavior I have noticed in the 2.78 beta as well. In the 2.77 beta I think everything worked fine. Anybody with the same issue?

Edit: Around half an hour later or more after the storm alarm now the barometer trending arrow is showing down. I think there is too much latency.

Solution(?) to the barobeter arrow trend issue

It seems the arrow trend is somehow related to an ABC widget. So I added it to a list of active widgets and the arrow on my watchface started working.
