Altimeter stuck

Hi
My instinct altimeter gets stuck when recording activities. Most recently we hiked up 430 vert metres to 450m over about an hour , shortly after starting descent watch displayed and recorded altitude as 450m for entire descent. Data sent to Garmin connect was a constant 450m for the rest of the activity. When started to record a new activity altimeter reset to actual altitude. Watch is set to auto calibrate.
Any ideas, is this a software glitch or a hardware problem?
  • does the instinct have a barometer? Can see temperature? 1) Check if the temperature is there, 2) check if the temperature is constant (put into fridge).

if either of these fails, likely your barometer (hardware) if exists on this watch is dead.

the fenix series can go into the service menu to check but on the instinct I am not so sure.

Sounds like you may have your Barometer Watch Mode set to Barometer - try changing it to Auto:

    MENU>Settings>Sensors & Accessories>Barometer>Watch Mode>Auto
