Auto pause not restarting

I used my instinct for the first time up snowdon, with other Garmin products I like the auto pause feature but with the instinct once I started walking the auto pause was still paused so the timer wasn’t running.i had to turn the auto pause feature off.wondered if anyone else has had the same problem.
thanks in advance

  • I had this problem after an update (6.91 I think). I found it didn't work for the hike activity at all, but on the walk activity it was very slow to unpause (8-10 seconds).

  • I have the same problem, if i'm going hiking on the trails most of the time the watch is on pause mode, so it doesn't record any progress. The GPS works, the altimeter works but it doesn't record any of them during hiking activity...

  • I tried using auto pause for hiking in hopes actual distance on my Instinct would equal what my hike partner sees on an Apple watch and All Trails app but once I start hiking, the Instinct would pause after a few seconds even thought I was moving. I turned it off. Garmin may as well remove that option.

  • I had the same issue today on my Fenix 7X. It cut 4km of my hike. I’ve tested it with it turned off and it works. I’ve set custom to 1.6km and that works, but I’ll just keep it turned off. It must be a bug as I’ve never had this issue with Garmin before.
