Hello from Greece. I bought my new Garmin Instinct yesterday and I am experiencing the following issue. The ABC (Down) button has a different feeling when i click it, although it is functional. It is easy to understand this, because it lacks in "clickness", so that sometimes you are not so sure that you pressed it. Of course, you can understand the change on screen when you are not running and you are focused on the watch. The problem starts during an activity, when you have to be sure that the button is pressed. Has anyone else experienced that kind of problem?
Hello! I do not think this is normal. I would change the watch under warranty. Perhaps in the future there will be a problem with the functioning of the button.
All buttons are clickable, depends on angle pressed as to how they click.
I find GPS and SET buttons are more flexible/wobbly if that makes sense, if you gently press they move before activating, they are just caps and if you look closely on those buttons at the bottom edge you can see the silver buttons underneath.
Hopefully not a weak point. I assume the caps don’t provide the waterproofing and it’s done by O rings underneath the actual buttons?
Hello, I also have the problem that the ABC button does not click, there are even moments that you do not feel that I have pressed it. The problem also seems to have it, although somewhat less, the GPS and SET buttons. I sent mail to Garmin and they asked me to send them the watch.
I have exactly the same problem on my Instinct with the BACK(SET) button. It does not click at all, is harder to press and sometimes you dont know if you have pressed it or not, as mentioned by more of you. I send it to Garmin under warranty. They gave me brand new watch with nice buttons. After about 3 days, the BACK(SET) button gets broken again and is now exactly the same as on the first watch.
Not sure what to do now. Im supper happy with the functions and looks of the watch but this is annoying.
This is why I'm reluctant to send mine back. The ABC button doesn't click, but it always registers and it doesn't stick. Actually, if I hold the watch up to my ear and press the ABC button in the right place, I do hear a click. Garmin support asked me to either send it to them or return to Amazon, but I'm afraid that I'll get one just as bad or worse. As long as the button doesn't completely die in the future I can live with it.
There is a lot more discussion about this problem on the FR 945 forum, so it's not isolated to the Instinct.
I have the same problem, but with the back/set button. Based on the responses of others, this seems to be a common problem, so I think it's something I'll have to live with. I'd be afraid of this or another issue happening if I get a new watch under warranty.
