No UTC in Alt. Time Zones Widget?

As far as I can determine, the only place where UTC time can be displayed is in the "eye" on the main time display. This is also the only place where the Moon Phase info can be displayed. Because I refer to both items often, I would like them both displayed; but that is not possible.

An easy workaround, I thought, would be to include UTC as an Alternate Time Zone in the Alt. Time Zone widget. Much to my surprise, UTC is not an available choice in that widget - the closest available time zone is Europe - Western, but that changes with DST so is not an acceptable alternate for UTC.

Of all the possible time zones, shouldn't UTC definitely be one of the choices? I know, of course, that it's easy to do the math; but when one travels a lot it is often just easier to refer to a UTC display. I also know that it would be easy to reconfigure the "eye" on the Main Time page to show UTC when I travel, but then I would be reconfiguring between Moon Phase and UTC too much and it would become cumbersome.

Any possibility Garmin could include UTC as one of the available Alternate Time Zones on the Instinct as it is on other fenix watches?

Thanks for any help. Garmin has really hit it out of the park with the Instinct - great watch. Solve this one minor niggle and it would be even better.

Agreed it's odd UTC isn't listed in alternate time zones given you can show it in the"eye". I'd love to see it added in an update. Even better, allow switching of the"eye" mini-widgets on the fly (without having to go to customize watch face).
  • Personally, I have added the Widget of Alt Time Zones and set it to Western European Europe – Western with it Renamed to UTC and have the time set to Military.

Since I know most people do not prefer the 24-hour format and would rather have UTC on the main watch screen, I have passed on some new suggestions the team.

I also have added the Alt Time Zones Widget and set it to Western Europe. The problem with that is that Western Europe observes Daylight Saving Time (Summer Time) wher UTC is the same time all yrear - this means Western Europrean time is one hour off UTC for half the year.

I do prefer the 24-hour format and also have my time set to Military. Set this way, the display of UTC in the "eye" on the Main Time page is great! No problem with that. My only problem is I prefer to display Moon Phase in the "eye" on the Main Time page (great Moon Phase display!) so I lose an easy way to reference UTC time anywhere else.

Thanks for your attention, and I hope we can get UTC as an available Time Zone in the Alt. Time Zones Widget.

Same here. I really like the moon-phase in the eye but need sometimes UTC. Either switching on the fly or having it as an alternate timezone (or have the alternate timezones list configurable through Garmin connect) would help.

And I know few people to prefer 12-hour format ;-)
  • I'd like that feature as well.
However, in the meantime, I've discovered that I can use Iceland time zone, which is UTC+0 without DST.
Also, depending on personal preferences, you can totally rename that time zone.
I've chosen to rename it to "Iceland UTC".
