Creating a route following streets and trails on map with Garmin Explore App (iOS)?

[h=2]Posting this also here from the Explore forum: I was looking forward to being able to create routes on my phone on the fly and sync them to my Garmin Instinct when outdoors on the trails. [/h] Sadly so far I only manage to create routes that connect points I choose with straight lines. Unlike Garmin Connect web app I haven't found a way to have the route follow the streets and trails on the map so far.

Anyone know if this is possible with Garmin Explore on iOS?

Kristian Thank you for pointing that last bit of information out to me. I have made a ticket for the software people to look into this.

Kristian, the Explore App only has direct routing. If you want a route to follow roads, then you will need to add more via points in your route by using the Edit tool.

@Garmin-Health , is there a way to keep the OSM map as a background in explorer when creating a route? When I am showing OSM and then tap to create a new route the map always seems to switch back to the default topo map. It's a problem as the topo map does not contain the hiking trails I need.

Kristian, Go to Map Settings -> My Maps Choose OpenStreetMap as your 'Prefer On Map'

@Garmin-Heath nope, that does not work. that is what I thought but even if I set OSM to "prefer on map" in settings, when tapping the "+" and "add route" what shows up is the topo north america map if both are installed. a bug?
