Share your language files?

Anyone around here has an Instinct on his hands already?

Will you be so kind and share the language (.ln3) files located in the \GARMIN\TEXT folder on the watch's storage?

As far as I can see, this is the first Garmin watch with a Romanian UI (my mother tongue). I would like to port it to my FR645 which does not support Romanian and probably never will.

Hello,

Language files cannot be transferred from an Instinct to a FR645, especially since the 645 doesn't support Romanian. Even if you did transfer the file, the 645 wouldn't be able to read the file correctly…

Hi there, does this work for file transfers between different model of instincts? Ie I am wanting traditional Chinese language support after I bought an Australian model of instinct which only supports English and other European languages.

Yep, know that already (got my hands on an Instinct - and the files - from a local dealer). They actually do match for the majority string ID's (the first ~80% are the same) and that was really helpful. Unfortunately, the newer/higher ID's overlap - i.e. same ID's for different text entries. Why would it be engineered this way? :confused:

P.S. As for unsupported languages - you can always hijack on of the supported ones ;) (I put my Romanian under Brazilian Portuguese, for example.)

hijacking of another LN3 file isn't hard to do - from my understanding it's the hardware's ability to encode the characters in Chinese (or whatever APAC language) is the issue here.
Not sure if it's possible by a firmware update but i guess it voids your warranty and probably not something this forum would endorse.
