Instinct solar powers off randomly

Well they chose to “lock” the last thread . However problems persist

I have that issue too. Based on user comments it appears neither rare nor random. And sadly I’m just a few months out of warranty

Happens especially during tracking and when battery below 50%. Reboot and satellite reacquisition restarts, but tracking corrupted

the last firmware update appeared to improve situation last week. However reoccurrence this week

  • I am sorry you have the issue. When interacting with Instinct Solar owners over the 4+ years, some have reported their issue has stopped or become rare if they clear the watch activities saved. It will depend on how frequently you save an activity.

Plug your watch directly into your computer. Ensure you have synced your activities prior to any deletion. Delete the .FIT files in your Activity folder on your watch.

  • Checked storage last week by looking at size of folder. In Explorer (Windows). Slightly over 40% of rated 8 gb capacity was in use. ~ about 3.2

did this after a full synch

    Will try again

  • I have this issue too - mine is just under 1 year old and the issue has started in the last week. Only happens when recording a workout.

I’ve emailed support but didn’t receive a reply. I’m based in Ireland but bought the watch via an overseas retailer - am I entitled to a replacement, and if so what steps do I need to take?

  • Please call Outdoor Product Support during their business hours if you do not receive an email response in a period of time that is reasonable. I am sorry you have not heard back yet.

  • checked activity. Had cleared all but two records (.fit) files; the problem recurs. on p[ower off lose all connectivity to GPS and stops tracking time. Have to reacquire satellites every power on

On right click on Device used less than half of available capacity

The device only intermittently recognized by Windows computer when plugged into a cable. Update failed

    I will call support

  • My instinct solar keeps turning off radomly. Garmin have said it’s a power surge issue and can be warrantied. They advise they have made a fix in the recertified batch

  • I got a replacement under warranty- described as refurbished but appears to be brand new. No issues since.

  • I have found the solution while scraping though the entire known internet.

Turn off Vibrate. This fixes the issue.

    MENU button ( long press)

ABC button to SETTINGS  : GPS button to enter menu

ABC button to system : GPS button to enter menu

ABC button to SOUNDS : GPS button to enter menu

    TURN OFF VIBRATE

Also in the widgets TIME - ALARM  set  the VIBRATE  function off, use sound only.

Obviously there is something wrong with the firmware that's causing this, but lets face it, Garmin is not going to fix it.

  • It’s a hardware problem which causes a power surge shutting down the battery, not firmware. Garmin told me that. Turning off functions isn’t really a fix IMO. They will exchange for you even if out of warranty as it is a known issue. I got a full refund from retailer despite mine being just being a week short of its 2 yr warranty.

  • And what if its out of its Warranty?
