how to save data field activity settings

The data field settings for activity don't save. The data filed screen keeps changing when I am in activity. I don't see a "save" option when editing my data field. I have the 1st gen garmin instinct solar. Any help to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated!

    If you edit your Activity Data Fields prior to an activity, they will remain the same for that specific activity you have modified.
