My Instinct Solar keeps shutting off

Hi,

My instinct solar keeps shutting off when I start an activity. The watch is just over a year old and I got the product to track my activities it's become extremely frustrating. I've read multiple articles and post on the site and have hard reset but still having the same issue. 

How do I fix this issue?

  • I am also afraid to updat to the latest firmware as that’s what started causing issues in my previous instinct Solar.

    Hm, you just wrote that you have the same problems with the new watch, so it does not seem to be related to the latest firmware. Unless the watch already has the latest firmware, but I suppose in such case you would not speak about updating it.

  • Seems to only happen with anything GPS related for me. Otherwise it's on indefinitely and functioning with no issue.

    I've reached out to Outdoor Product Support and sent in all logs and data requested. I suggest others to do the same and push through the, oh, well let's just replace it.

    It sucks, I can use my son's 15 dollar 3 year old Walmart watch to tell the time just as well. 

  • Garmin should do something for all of the customer who got this problem.

    not just ask us to replace or pay money for repair Garmin’s problem.

    Finally, it is my first Garmin watch, also it must be the last Garmin product I buy. I had never bought any brand terrible like this, also Garmin is not care about its brand name, ever there are so many case was getting the same “Auto turn off” problems

  • Hello, I’am experiencing the same issue with my garmin solar instinct it shuts down by it self for a couple of months now. I took it to my region   Garmin Greece. I have it for a two  years now and the coverage has expired. Their proposal was to replace it with a refurbished one for 140€.  I had to leave my watch there and I would receive the refurbished after one month. Is that valid?

  • It seems strange to me that so many watches have the same defect, does this mean that the production is incorrect? or is the problem software? today I can only use my watch to count my steps, would this be a sportwatch? I would have saved by getting a Xiaomi smartband. To date I cannot start any business. Terrible!!! 

  • I am not getting any response from Garmin India support (which seems to be outsourced judging by the email address on the support section of the Garmin India website - [email protected]).

  • You can try emailing [email protected], but I suspect if you're in India, they will reroute to the India support team.

    I am sorry you have not heard back yet from India Product Support. It will be best to call them directly if your email is taking longer than normal to be responded to.
