  • altimeter performance is better than 18.01 but still far from good...

  • Can you please elaborate?

  • The altimeter is still all over the place. I’ve backdated to v17.0 which is still better than v18.1

I’ve compared the altitude readings ( elevation) with my garmin edge 530 while on a ride and the readings aren’t far off ( -+3 m) however the total altitude ascend is nearly double that of the edge with v17.0

  • Does this then mean that the biggest problem seems to be the summation of the total ascension as opposed to the actual ascension?  So, the doubling-effect comes into play when the total is being calculated?

  • I Cannot say for sure, the watch sensors seem more sensitive. I did a 40 km ride today ( flat ) edge recorded 102 m altitude gain watch recorded 147 m.

it’s still far off but previously with v 18.01 gain would be in the region of 3000 m due to negative spikes.

The watch is set on auto ( bar / alt). My next ride I’ll set it on altitude and see if that makes a difference

  • I still have same problems, Long activities create a damaged .fit file, and it cannot sync with garmin connect.

I swim 5 day a week and activities and oftenare damaged. i can see it  in history, but trying to show it remains on loading....

I  have used Bike Activityo only few times and same problems. I have lost many sessions.

i have reset default setting after upgrade to 18.10 version and nothing is changed. Today my activity is damaged.

Sometimes Swim activity crash pressing lap button and i have notice that disabling phone connection before start activity reduce this problem on 90%.

  • Does the altimeter work while surfing? he usually gets really mad.

If you manage to keep it above the surface all the time and dry, it would work Smiley Barometric altimeters do now work when submerged, and the water entering the sensor port can mess up the measuring even when the watch is then above the surface.

  • "improvements to altimeter performance" is a UNDER statement. Was totally broken for my two watches. Tonight, after the latest update, it seems the gain is close to be in normal range.
