Garmin Instinct Solar turns off after starting of any activity

I got version 17.50 and my watch started to turn off after I turning on any activity and any set of activities. I tried to reset to defaults with full data wipe and hard reset also but none of this helped. Are there any solution for this problem? Could they lost their tightness and broke? I have them for little more than one year

  • In my case I decided to replace the watch … with an Amazfit

  • Same here. It's just a shame that a company treat clients like this. I already turned the vibration off and nothing change. Now I have a 300 euros watch that is garbage because shut its down from nowhere.

  • I have the same issue. Turning off the vibrator solved the shut down issue.

  • Make sure vibrating alarms are turned off.  Not great solution to be without the vibration and notification but it does work turning them off.

  • Shutting down the watch and get a new Amazfit, Suunto or Casio works better.

    crappy customer service from Garmin

  • I've tried all the solutions you've offered, and nothing helped.
In fact, the watch is worst now.
I'm fully charging the watch at the evening, put it on, and go to sleep. Now, it doesn't hold a full night sleep.
    How do I replace it?

  • GARMIN CS REPs
I'm waiting for a reply for over a week.
Since no other solution worked, how do we go forward with replacing the malfunctioned watch?
I bought it on Amazon, and the local Garmin agent (Israel) won't deal with me, without a word from you.

I recommend reaching out to the Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com. Use the Phone or Chat options for an instant response. Email exchanges usually take a few days.

  • Unfortunately this issue seems to be chronic to all Garmin Instinct Solar devices, mine has been replaced two times already and now for a third time is showing the same cryptic behavior. I wanted to at some point buy a Fenix watch to my son and probably change mine but this has dissapointed me so much.

How can it be that Garmin cannot fix this issue with the Instinct Solar?

I live in Costa Rica and became a client of Garmin years ago when I lived in Denmark thus a replacement of the device is actually an issue itself.

  • Hi Laurie,

I tried contacting my local Product Support regarding the watch shutting down when vibrating. They said that as it is over 2 years old, I would have to pay 150 euros to get a replacement. I think this is way too expensive and that a rugged watch should last more than 2-3 years. Is there an alternative way to proceed with getting a functioning watch?
