Garmin Instinct Solar turns off after starting of any activity

I got version 17.50 and my watch started to turn off after I turning on any activity and any set of activities. I tried to reset to defaults with full data wipe and hard reset also but none of this helped. Are there any solution for this problem? Could they lost their tightness and broke? I have them for little more than one year

  • So far I have done one activity now and the watch didn't crash (with vibrate turned off as you said ).  I will post another update on here if that stops working as a fix.  I am running the Solar Instinct Model on Software Version 19.01.  Hopefully this helps Garmin Software developers figure out the issue! My unit ID is 3390513649.

  • This worked for my alarms, but I still do get the random occurrences of it happening during an activity.

  • An update for all:

The watch began crashing even with my settings set to vibrate.  I called Garmin and they have extended the warranty on the Instinct Solar I an extra year in order to compensate for this issue.  If you have not had the watch for more than 3-years, call and get it replaced!

  • Same.... mine was about 18 months, I had very limited success with my local Garmin (Australia) but found the US site far more helpful, and they arrange an exchange for me.  Hopefully this one lasts longer, its my 3rd Instinct Solar now.

  • They replaced mine after it was out of warranty! Good on you Garmin and a huge THANK YOU! My new Solar works perfectly fine :-)

Renewed my confidence in the company caring for its customers.

  • Mine started with the problems from version 19.0.1 (or actually could be the one before this one). Sometimes shuts off while acquiring GPS signal, sometimes during activity, every time when the alarm goes off, when storm alert is received, when I try to use pulse ox. The watch cannot even be turned back on again by pressing an holding the power button. It will only switch back on when connected power supply.

  • I have exactly the same problem! Had for afew weeks - thought it was me at first doing something wrong. I've tried all the support solutions. Nothing works. About to try the Vibrate OFF idea. But REALY???? A Top Brand and a basic Vibrate feature calling ALL these problems. This is abysmal. Garmin-Chris can you help find a solution?

  • I am sorry you have the issue. There is a larger issue if your Instinct watch is powering itself off. Other than the troubleshooting given in the official response above, the watch will need to be exchanged through Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • I've fill ed in the info on email - phone is in a queue - email doesn't tell me it has sent when I press send - does nothing.

Please try calling during their normal business hours when you can if their email is not working. (You can try another browser but use a computer to see if that works if you were trying through your phone.)
