Hello:
Using an Instinct Solar for the last week, and have been having a hard time getting the active calories to reflect realistic values.
when I track an activity (walk, run, etc), the calories estimated are fine, seem to match typical estimates based on my weight, age, etc.
However, the activity tracking of steps/heart rate consistently overestimates the amount of active calories I am burning, which is difficult because I do hope to use the watch to track my diet and exercise for weight management. For an example, yesterday my activity level was quite low- I did some walking for errands like grocery shopping, but was mostly working indoors, not moving much. By the end of the day, the watch had estimated I had burned almost 900 active calories. This doesn’t seem remotely accurate.
here’s what I’ve tried:
-restarting the watch
-setting my “activity class” to zero
-manually adjusting the heart zones to reflect a higher resting heart rate (I take medication that does elevate my heart rate slightly, so that may contribute)
-turned off “MoveIQ”
I have seen lots of posts about people having this issue, but haven’t found any good suggestions for how to fix the problem. If someone could help me out, I would appreciate it. I like the watch a lot but would really like it to be somewhat reliable for calorie estimates, as this is an important part of it’s usage for me
