  • Hi,

I have a Garmin Instinct Solar Camo Edition whit 17.50 software version installed.
Manually calibrating the barometer at a known pressure (in my case 2 or 3 hPa lower than the values measured by the nearest aeronautical military weather station) the barometric trend arrow points down after 15 min (in many cases after 60 min) and remains so for the next three hours. So with every manual or automatic calibration.
Please note that after each manual calibration after the first, the trend arrow returns flat and it is necessary to wait 15 min (in many cases even 60 min) to notice that the arrow points down again even if the weather remains perfectly stable.
This behavior also happens with other watch models like the Fenix.
    Please, can you fix this?
    Thanks
    Francesco
  • Surely enough people have complained about the altimeter issues and battery drain issues that Garmin would actually take note of it and at least attempt a fix. The fix listed here I haven't even noticed abyone complaining about it.

    Here you are.

This post is about 3 years ago. Same happens in my Garmin and i'm pretty sure in other garmin watches.

  • I was referring to the changelog of the new software. Which seems like Garmin is ignoring all the comments about the altimeter and battery drain.

  • Yes of course, I wanted to show a bug that was never taken into consideration three years later.
The battery drain after every update is a bug that I resolve resetting the watch (SIGH). The altimeter is pretty accurate, but the auto mode doesn't work properly..
  • You see I wasn't even aware of that bug. I know of the battery drain after a update so I usually do a reset after an update but the battery drain continues. I used to get 3 weeks battery usage but I am now down to half that. The altimeter just frustrates me as it used to lock in automode but now nothing. Prior to the v17 update everything worked fine.

  • Let me know if you have the same weather trend arrow bug, if you want. You just have to manually calibrate the barometer a couple of mbar down and wait about 1h.

If your battery drains despite the reset, you should consider to open an assistance ticket...The altimeter in auto mode drift after few hours but in this range is pretty accurate. I lock it in barometer mode and use auto mode only if i move out of the city. Before 17.00 was perfect even in auto mode.

  • Hi,

Would it be possible in these public release candidate posts to include the updates for the GPS and BLE/ANT and SNS units as well, even if they haven't changed since the last release?  For instance, on my watch I have the system up-to-date, 18.00, but my GPS is at 4.80 (instead of 5.40) and my BLE/ANT is at 3.00 (instead of 3.02).  You see, I tried to dig through the Forum to find the updates for the latter two, but I just wasn't able to.

    Much appreciated,

    P

  • My watch hadn't been updated since last year.  I just updated using Garmin Express and it updated all the components to the latest version.  I'm using a Windows 10 laptop.

  • If you have devices the operating systems of which are supported by Garmin software, then that certainly is a viable option.  I don't own any such units.
