Instinct Solar Camo will no longer pair with Pixel 5A

Due to MMS issues, I had to reset network settings on my Pixel 5A.  After that, I can not get my watch to pair with the phone.  Have contacted Garmin chat and they exhausted everything they could think of. Suggested I contact Google re. the Pixel.  So, I did that and, again, exhausted everything they had including factory reset.  No luck.  The Instinct pairs just fine with every other device I have tried... phones, tablets, laptop.  The Pixel pairs fine with everything else as well... earbuds, speaker, vehicle, etc.  So, the incompatibility seems unique to the combilnation of the Instinct and the Pixel 5A.

Anypne else experienced this?  Calls to each vendor end up pointing finger at the other.  Don't know which device to throw out at this point!  

All was fine before I reset network settings on the phone.  Also, updated to Android 12 before that.

  • What exactly do you mean by "cannot pair"? Does the device icon no more appear at the top of the GCM app, and it is also no more listed in GCM Menu » Garmin Devices? Or are you getting repeated requests to pair the device? Or are rather speaking about the inability to connect & sync?

    I would probably try the following steps (even if you did them already previously). Although some of the steps may be unnecessary, definitely do not skip any of them, and also do them in the shown order.

    1. Remove the device from GCM Menu » Garmin Devices
    2. Sign Out from the app!
    3. Repeat for all phones or other devices with the GCM app, where you previously added the device
    4. Turn off all other phones previously paired with the watch, or disable the BT on them (except the critical one)
    5. Remove the device from Garmin Express
    6. Remove the device from Garmin Connect Web & sign out
    7. Remove the device from other Garmin apps you may have used (Garmin Dive, Garmin Explore, Garmin Golf,...)
    8. Clear data and cache of the GCM app in Android Settings » Apps
    9. Uninstall and reinstall the GCM app 
    10. Factory reset the watch
    11. Reboot the watch again
    12. Sign in with the original credentials, on the GCM app on the critical phone
    13. On the watch, initialize the pairing and try completing
