Instinct Solar not recording Bike miles, and says Activities almost full, but activity history had been deleted prior.

Instinct solar is not recording bike miles, and says Activities almost full even though I just cleared activity history. Have had my instinct solar for a year and this has never happened. Called Garmin, they said it was the watch so they sent me a new one, and the same thing is happening again. Anyone else having this issue, and anybody successfully resolve the issue? Thank yo

  • How much free space do you have on the watch? See it in the drive properties when connected over USB to a computer.

  • I've had something similar happening on my Instinct Solar this past week. I would try to record an activity and the device said it was full. I plugged it into the computer and checked the properties. Properties said the drive was full, so I started looking into the folders on the drive. My Courses folder was full of files from the past week. I deleted all of them and the device can record an activity now. Go figure....where did all those courses come from? If they are my past activities (about 30 of them), why doesn't it clear out automatically or when I sync it?  Dumb problem to have. Thanks for the tip Trux!

  • BTW, you can also clean up the following folders, to make more room on the storage:

    • //GARMIN/Activity/ - all files
    • //GARMIN/RemoteSW/ - all files
    • //GARMIN/Debug/ - all files
    • //GARMIN/Courses/ - remove unneeded courses
    • //GARMIN/Workouts/ - remove unneeded workouts
    • //GARMIN/Text/ - remove all unneeded languages
  • Trux, thanks for your suggestions. I've deleted all the files you suggested, twice actually. Still it won't record any activities. That makes this watch worthless to me. The solar charging is a gimmick and it won't record any activities. How do I warranty this POS?
