Open water swimming. Laps in yds not metres

Just started using my instinct solar, for open water swimming. Emden though it measures my swim in metres, the laps are based on yards. This means when I look at the breakdown of the whole swim,  it's broken down into sections of 457m ie 500yds.

In the open water swim activity settings, you can change the lap distance, but not the units of measurement.  Any hints,  other than setting the yardage to approx 500m?

Thanks in advance.

  • I have 500m in the Auto-Lap length settings of the OW Swim. If you have yards there instead, then perhaps you use the imperial units in the user profile, or is it set to the metric system?

Does it look like this in the OW Swim settings of your watch, or are the yards already there too?

BTW, this is a screenshot from Instinct 2, but on Instinct 1 it looks almost the same, just instead of "500 Meters", there is "500 m"

  • I had everything set to metric, except I had navigation in miles. I switched that and the auto lap units switched to metre. Us Brits do love to confuse things by using a mix of metric and imperial! I drive in miles, training in km, climb in feet, weigh in kg, my height in either!

    Thanks for the input.
