Feature request - update with new features for current generation watches

Recently I bought Instinct 2, but because of washed out screen problem https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/instinct-2-series/286546/instinct-2-solar-tactical-washed-out-display-anyone-else-having-this-problem-w-their-display I decided to send it back. So for now I'm still with Instinct Solar, which is very good watch to me.

I would be happy to get some of features from I2 and to get them as update for I1. I understand this is business and by selling watches Garmin earns money.

So maybe Garmin could sell also updates for older models? I would pay for all new features from Instinct 2 (except HR sensor and higher screen resolution which are hardware changes).

This way Garmin could sell new model but also earn by selling update for users whore are happy to stay with watch they own already. This would be "ecological" move as well.

The problem with an ala carte watch would be cost to the consumer. You'd have to pay for all the hardware so you can have the capabilities of all the features from software upgrades you purchased regardless if you used them or not. This may be fine for someone who wants everything, but a deal breaker for those who don't.
