16.44 Change Log Notes:

  • Made improvements to altimeter calibration.
  • Fixed explore course sync issue.
  • Fixed issue where CPE status would incorrectly appear as expired.

    I have now changed the mode to altimeter, and will leave my watch on the table for 24 hours again with otherwise the same settings. If the developers programmed this wrong, I should see the same altitude (calibrated to 45 meters) tomorrow, and the pressure should change. I am curious.

    Update:

    I left the watch on the table for another 24 hours. This time the sensor mode on "Altimeter only". All other settings as in the previous test.
    Bluetooth off, autocalibration off (nightly).

    This time the behavior is correct. Altimeter only mode, any pressure change affects the altitude while the pressure stays the same.



    So it's not, as I initially suspected, that Garmin has swapped the two modes.

    Altimeter only works in my test

    Sensor mode "Barometer only" does NOT work !

    Even if Barometer only is activated, the altitude is not locked. The altitude continues to change. Even with Bluetooth disabled.

    This is wrong !

    Testing the new software now. Seems like it is locking the altimeter on barometer mode.

    It definitely locks the altimeter on barometer mode, but when you choose the auto setting, it seems like it isn't sure what it must do. Then it kind of locks then it jumps, then it stops then it moves. Always staying within 2 to 3 meter up or down.

    My first test after installing 16.50 (public release candidate) shows correct behavior.

    BAROMETER MODE:

    Any pressure change affects the pressure, but altitude remains unchanged :



    Altimeter Mode :

    Any pressure change affects the displayed altitude, the pressure remains unchanged: 


    It's been less than 24 hours since I installed 16.50, but so far the two modes are showing the correct behavior.

    Glad it is working for you. So after testing it further by me, it doesn't actually lock it in Barometer Mode, well sort of. It keeps the altitude sort of constant. So my actual altitude is 178m, but over 4 hours it will fluctuate between 176m and 181m but then always bring it back to 178m, it only stays constant for like 5min and then it goes up or down. As you can see by the picture it isn't a solid straight line. The dip was when I went to town.

    Is your watch connected to your phone via Bluetooth, or is Bluetooth disabled?
