Body Battery and Stress disappear after charging

I have an Instinct Solar for around 4 weeks. Whenever I charge it via usb, the body battery and stress both disappear - that is they have no data from the time I disconnect the watch from the usb lead. They don't reappear how ever long I wait. I can still see the Body Battery and Stress from before I started charging the watch.

Resetting the watch by holding down the CTRL button and starting the watch again fixes the problem. The Body Battery and Stress data start appearing again from that point onwards.

Is this normal behaviour?  Do I need to turn the watch off and on every time I charge it?

Thanks

  • I too have found that the Instinct Solar no longer displays Body Battery or Stress, and also found the compass will freeze and GPS will not update, after charging the device. Performing a power off/power on procedure will start the processes and I can then use the watch again. Time/date etc do not seem to be effected by the the freeze.

The device shows as running the v16.00 firmware and I am alerted that it synced while charging. I charge by attaching the device to my PC so the sync occurs automatically.

  • We have become aware of and we are investigating an issue with Body Battery getting “stuck” or freezing at a certain value with a flat-lined graph in Garmin Connect. It was discovered that this only occurs when charging through a PC/Mac device and device is unplugged.

We have had reports that this will appear resolved for a few days after the watch has been reset, but then will occur again after device is charged.

A workaround at this time is to reset the watch by pressing and holding the light button for ~30 seconds until the device powers off after unplugging from a PC/Mac and then restart device.

    OR

Charge with a wall outlet or USB Hub.

Thank you for your patience while we investigate this issue.
