Garmin instinct solar has does not show steps on activity

Hello all,

I'm surprised to see that the Garmin Instinct Solar cannot show a rather basic thing, steps during an activity. I've only tried walking so far but I'd expect to see steps on this and other activities.

The step counter sensor is still running as you can see your total steps on the watch face go up. Please could you add this as an available field to be displayed and include it in the activity report after a activity takes place such as walking or hiking.

This really helps people with the daily step count total and is one of my favourite statistics and a great target to beat.

I'm aware that it could easily be implemented and that it's available on other devices. My reply was based on your "helps with daily step count total" comment, as it does not. Let me explain. If you walk a 1/4 mile track, knowing the amount of steps it took you is irrelevant to your total goal. Distance doesn't dictate step total. You don't always get the same number of steps every 1/4 mile. Terrain, gradient and pace will change it. If you now walk that 1/4 track at twice the pace, your cadence will change. You'll have a longer stride and less steps covering the same distance. You'll have more steps if you walk at slower pace then the first time. So, knowing the total number of steps taken in any activity is just nice to have info, but doesn't assist in reaching your total goal. To reach your total goal you need to know your current total and go from there; which you have in the steps widget, not how many steps each activity accumulated.

That won't tell me how many steps for an activity. I have a daily goal per activity - total steps is different.
