Make use of wasted space on default watch face

Hi all,

I'm a new Garmin Instinct owner, after going through all of the menus and options I do love the watch but I think the home screen could have additional fields available. This is always really useful to see at a glance without having to use another hand (such as when carrying something etc!).

I'd like to have the current outside temperature (weather) as a field, currently the only way to do that is to use the circular data field.

What I'd also love to see is the blank space on the left or right of the current time incorporate a dot or number, similar to WearOS does when you have a new unread notification.

Either that or could you please add some more options in the top data field? which seem quite limited currently. Perhaps instead of a graph of one single field you could have two fields of two lots of data?

I like to have steps, notifications, current day/date, battery and the time showing but sadly there is a massive solar input graph that takes up room that could be used for weather or something else (or the blank space could just be used as I mentioned above).

Thank you,

Laurence

  • I'm guessing a Fenix, with it's more customizable interface, would have been a better option for you.

Personally, I went with the Instinct over the Fenix for the minimal changes. I used to own a Fenix 5x Plus, and sometimes with all those custom options and apps, problems would be introduced causing the device to perform poorly... I recall one time a watch face that was guzzling battery.

But who knows, maybe it's something they plan in a future update.

  • I've spent months researching watches haha, the fenix doesn't have enough protection for me to even consider it. No bezel to protect the screen. Looks like many have broken the screen. I also am going to fit a screen protector which will make the glass even higher.

The instinct ticks so many boxes other than this so far. It's very minor, hopefully it could be reviewed and the options expanded upon by Garmin. I think someone else at least did comment the same thing.

I actually think the Instinct is super customisable compared to WearOS, TizenOS or many other fitness trackers I've used. There is so much customisation available on the activities and navigation etc.

You are 100% right I am not interested in third party watch faces or apps, I just want a watch that works with decent battery life, which this watch is the quintessential of.
