New Surf 2.0 Available!

Hello everyone,

In our latest beta update we introduced our improved Surf 2.0 algorithm.  You can find the latest beta update one level up in the main forum pinned to the top.  We'd appreciate hearing back from our surf community regarding this improved algorithm. The main improvement you should see is better wave detection.

We look forward to your feedback.

  • And for a moment, I thought that a new Instinct had been releasedt! Good to see that Garmin is working on improving the surf detection, though.

  • Hahaha, that would be the worst back-stabbing move to current owners of all time. Curious to see whether there are still some wave riders around that stuck with the watch after all this time and if they do indeed see improvements.

  • Hello there! I’ve been using this new version and I can honestly say that it feels real good! The wave count is working really well, missing by one or two only! As for speed and distance, if i compare with another app, the numbers are similar.
    Further improvements:

    - the watch face should show the number of waves already surfed during the activity

    - it would be nice to have the possibility to adjust some fields like last wave distance or last wave speed.

    - the garmin connect could represent in a better way the surfed wave. I have 50 meter waves that are represented as a dot…

good job Garmin, it finally feels like I have the watch I was supposed to have

  • Little advise for all of you trying out this new version. Once you finish your wave, make sure your watch shows 0 km/h speed, in order for the watch to understand you finished the wave. I found this to really help in the wave detection accuracy. Also make sure that your watch stays as long as possible out of water to improve GPS signal strength

  • In our latest beta update

What beta update is that? I have an open ticket about the surf app and nobody contacted me about this. Happened to be looking to see if anything has been done after a year of no progress and found this.
