Hi there,

I have testing many time, and here is the result.

1. When turn off watch - turn on back - start activities - after that I calibration barometer /altimeter use Dem - watch show " no dem elevation available "

I have try many time already for above issue, swift my watch on and off to testing.

Garmin can fix this issue please?

  • To use the DEM method, you'll need your phone within Bluetooth distance of your watch.  The watch will get your location via GPS, transfer the location information to the phone, the phone will then retrieve the altitude from an online database, and send the altitude information to the watch.  Once the elevation calibration is complete, you don't need the phone any longer.

The DEM information is supplied by your phone.  A

    Thanks for info.

Yup, I have follow at the step. But the instinct solar dem can't work, as mentioned as above message

Which is after turn off and turn back the watch on , after start the activities, then connect Garmin Connect with calibration ,the dem can't work.

Except is after turn on the watch , without start any activities, connect to Garmin Connect, the dem can work.

Hope that can fix this issue as soon from Garmin.

  • Hi D_Estes,

That is indeed how it is supposed to work. However, to empathize with the OP, if often doesn't. Calibration using DEM has worked for me in the past (just as in your video), currently it does not. I get the same 'No DEM elevation available'. I know the watch is connected to my phone and that the connect app is able to access online data since weather, agenda, notifications, tides (SURF) all work at this time.

Of course, I could go through the whole circus of resetting and reinstalling everything in the hope that it works afterwards. It might work. For a day. Thereafter, who knows? To me it's not worth the hassle of  having to reconfigure the watch each time afterwards (a lot of settings in the Instinct Solar do not back-up)... I sort of gave up on all features to work at all times. If you expect features to not work, and they happen to do, you can consider it a happy surprise. It is much easier on the mind than the other way around.
