Have you tried powering off the watch by holding the upper left button for about 15-20 seconds till the watch shuts down, wait a couple of seconds and then power on with pressing the same button?
Actually I restart my watch every day to ensure it functions normally. And this funny bug occurs every time when it's connected to my phone. You may also find this funny bug by turning phone alert on.
The essence of my question is this: “by holding the upper left button for about 15-20 seconds till the watch shuts down”. If that didn’t help, try resetting the watch (wiping the watch and returning its factoring settings). And if this doesn’t work for you, contact Garmin Support.
In 2019 I’ve owned regular Instinct never had to restart except after sw update. For me, restarting the watch daily is totally needless.
