Can't get the correct tide times
I am stood on the beach. Set the tides location to my current location but all the tide times are still out.
Any ideas how to fix this or is it just terrible programming?

It doesn't work for me or the one other Garmin Instinct Surf owner I know so not sure where you are getting the 99% of watches work fine assertion.
Thank you for your response. I am constantly connected to my smart phone but tide data is always out no matter what I try.
Couldn't find the tidal info on world weather online but have sent them an email…
"Garmin chris" told me on this thread that garmin use NOAA for the states and world weather online for the rest of the world... I am in Cornwall, England.
Couldn't find any tide data on world…
The fact that this thread keeps going tells the story in itself.
After an official ‘ticket’ was raised through Garmin Chris on this forum, I have heard nothing in 5 months. No response. No resolution. I’ve given up.
I'm sure I could have legitimately returned the watch but even that seemed a struggle so simply sold it on at quite a heavy loss for a 6 month old watch.
The instinct solar surf seems a great idea but poor execution by partnering with an unreliable tidal data partner.
Ive owned 9 Garmin watches over the years and this is the first dud from a function point of view. Disappointing Garmin.
Yes, very disappointing.
Same here, no resolution, no response from Garmin Support after sending them diagnostics. Nothing on this forum.
Looking back, I should have returned the watch in the first couple of weeks when I could have done it with no questions. Now after 6 months I expect it would be a struggle.
I use magicseaweed.com for tide times but that's not the point.
My tide data for North Devon on my Instinct 2 Surf was wrong and Garmin couldn’t help me. Eventually what I did was type in the coordinates for Ilfracombe to be nearer the buoy data that I want, and found it came back with the correct tide times, even though Ilfracombe is only a few miles away. I’ve saved this location and made it a favourite so the watch defaults to showing it. It was still there after I turned the watch off and on again, so fingers crossed it stays. Garmin still calls it North Devon, same as when the data is incorrect, so there’s at least two sets of N Devon data. Hope this approach works for other people!
Many thanks for that suggestion.
I had saved coordinates for Saunton and the watch came back with a location name of 'Croyde Bay' , close enough, but the tide times were never accurate and sometimes wildly out.
I did what you said and yes, the watch comes back with a saved location named 'North Devon' and the tide times are exactly the same as magicseaweed for Saunton, which uses tides from Ilfracombe
Fingers crossed this continues to work!
I'm glad that worked for you too. My watch is still matching the printed tide tables exactly so it seems to be fixed.
Dear user,
Thank you for contacting Garmin Iberia.
We have re-reported your request to the US engineering team, as we understand your natural concern regarding this matter.
The answer they have given us is that, unfortunately, it will not be possible to solve the incident related to the difference in the bearing of the Tides/Mareas application in some areas.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.
We remain at your disposal for any comments in this regard.
I think this just encapsulates the problem here, that Garmin don’t seem to care and are happy to put into writing that they aren’t going to fix it.
I’ve given enough time and energy to this issue and frankly I’m so pleased to have sold (albeit at a loss) my Solar Surf Instinct. Bought a reduced price Fenix 6 Pro Solar Titanium (great deals since the 7 came out) and couldn’t be happier.
I know this is an old thread and still unresolved. Something interesting I found was a website that clearly uses the same (but incorrect) data from World Weather Online (WWO), as it shows the exact tide data my watch shows for the location. Might be helpful if you're trying to compare your incorrect data.
Here's the tide station that shows exactly the same incorrect data as my watch: https://www.tideking.com/Vanuatu/Sanma/Luganville/
See if Tideking reflects the same data for your location.
As many have discussed, surely Garmin with its buying power could resolve this on behalf of users. I've emailed WWO to ask them to fix for my location.
