My instinct solar surf doesn’t work will. It doesn’t count waves

My new watch solar instinct surf doesn’t count waves. it seems to record well the speed however it doesn’t seem to understand when a wave is taken. contacted Garmin support however no resolution yet
Don't hold any hope on this. I've never heard of or spoken to a single person for whom the surf function worked. It has been reported numerous times on here in the past year but without any kind of acknowledgement from the developers side. The only advice ever given was something along the lines of "If you don't surf in the first place, the activity cannot malfunction, we advice that". /cynism.
If surf functionality is a dealbreaker and you are still in the window of return for your retailer, my advice would be to return it. What you have right now is an expensive "surf"-watch that does a lot of things exceptionally well, except for tracking surfing...
