Instinct Solar - 14.30 Public Release Candidate

Hello Instinct Solar customers,

The following beta update is equal to 14.20.  As you may see, we did remove 14.20 out of an abundance of caution as we reviewed reports of issues that may have impacted the Instinct and Instinct Solar products.  We did conclude these products were not impacted, and therefore have decided to release 14.30.  

Please read the 'notes' and 'installation instructions' in the 'Updates and Downloads' page found in the link below. We look forward to your feedback!

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

14.30 Change Log Notes:

  • Fixed issue where device could randomly freeze and become unresponsive.
    Fixed possible issues with Garmin Explore sync.
    Fixed course navigation issue where the course would not be found again after going off-course.
    Fixed potential compass performance issue.

    Hello Jeff,

    Please make this available for APAC clients ASAP.

    I tried to live with it but the problem mentioned here https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/instinct-solar/264515/compass-true-north-vs-mag-north is quite a core feature when navigating point to point via a course.

    It is sad to see a core feature break in a seemingly random way.

    Ditched my Casio Rangeman GW-9400 and got my first Garmin watch (Instinct Solar). I am all ready to be a life-long fan. Convinced my wife to get a Garmin too. All in my family except my parents are on Garmin watches too.

    By the way, APAC Garmin clients would make good beta testers too. Please consider letting our watches run beta (or at least a subset of us who are willing).

    The optical heart rate monitor is not working as expected on firmware 14.30. When I put the watch on my wrist the heart rate is detected for about a minute and then goes blank (- -) and won’t pick up my heart rate no matter what I do. Have tried to restart the watch and to reset it and all kinds of stuff like turning on and off HRM and pulse ox on the watch and wearing it while warming up. No dice.

    thank you for this report.  Is the issue with OHR you describe above still present?  In our repeated testing since releasing this software to the forums, we've not yet seen OHR stop detecting HR both in normal use and within activities.  Can you navigate to Main Menu > About.  Scroll down sever pages.  What is your WHR version?

    The WHR version on my watch is 0.09.01.

    WHR 0.09.01 is the correct version.  Are you still seeing the issue you described above?  If you do continue to see no OHR, can you power cycle your watch to see if it recovers.  In review of feedback on this version I've not seen any other reports of this issue.
